About Us: A Journey of Friendship, Trust, and Commitment

Mrs. Rina Wahab (Morsheda Khanam Rina): A local visionary whose deep understanding of the Gazipur community drives our day-to-day operations and outreach

Our Story: From 11 Students to a Community Movement

The seeds of You and Me Manab Shampad Unnoyon Shongstha were planted in 2007. Operating in the rural village of Bagher Bazar, Gazipur, Bangladesh, we saw a community struggling with limited access to education.

In 2011, this grassroots effort took a monumental step forward. Through a collaborative partnership with Mashihee Jamat, the You and Me International School officially began its journey. Under the inspiring leadership of two dynamic women—Mrs. Rina Wahab (Morsheda Khanam Rina) and Japanese humanitarian Mrs. Yumi Tamaki-san—we opened our doors with just 11 students.

Today, that humble beginning has blossomed into a thriving institution. We proudly serve over 350 students who are receiving the light of quality education, alongside specialized skills training programs for local women and youth.

The Reality We Face

Working in a rural area is never easy. In Bagher Bazar, many parents and guardians remain unaware of the true long-term value of education. When resources are scarce, families are often forced to focus on immediate income opportunities, pushing young boys into early labor.

Tragically, young girls face an even greater hurdle. Often viewed as a financial burden, many are at high risk of being married off at an early age.

Despite these deep-rooted social challenges, we continue our mission with unwavering hope. Every day brings new responsibilities and struggles, but each challenge strengthens our commitment to serve this community in a more mature, responsible, and sustainable way.

A New Era of Transparency: Our National NGO Registration

To expand our work, maintain the highest level of transparency, and strengthen our connections with international friends and supporters, we recently achieved a major milestone.

“You and Me Manab Shampad Unnoyon Shongstha” is now an officially registered national organization with the Government of Bangladesh.

“We believe this registration is not only a certificate, but also a symbol of friendship, trust, and commitment—enabling us to work legally, transparently, and cooperatively with the Government of Bangladesh and friends around the world.”
